Graduate Civil Engineer / Technician
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Shape Consulting Engineers are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer / Technician to join our Liverpool office. This opportunity is suited to candidates with up to one year of experience (including placements) who are looking to begin or develop their career within a civil engineering consultancy.
The RoleThe role will involve supporting the civil engineering team in the preparation and coordination of infrastructure designs across residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with drainage and highway design, preparation of civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD (Civil 3D desirable)
- Supporting planning and technical approval submissions.
Candidate Requirements
- Applicants should hold a Degree, HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous consultancy or placement experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Senior Civil Technician
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Technician to join our Liverpool-based team.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects, producing detailed technical information from feasibility through to construction. You will work closely with engineers, architects and external consultants and play an active role in maintaining drawing standards and supporting junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Production of civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD (Civils 3D desirable)
- Preparation of drainage, highways, external works and level drawings
- Coordination of civil engineering information with internal and external teams
- Assisting with technical submissions for planning and construction
- Ensuring compliance with current UK standards and regulations
- Supporting and mentoring junior technicians where required
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in a civil engineering consultancy environment
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Experience in drainage and highways design
- Understanding of UK approval processes (e.g. S38, S278, SAB)
- Ability to manage workloads and meet project deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
