Shape Engineering is proud to be providing Civil and Structural Engineering design services for the Holden Fold development in Darwen, a major residential scheme being delivered by Vistry Group that will create 477 new homes across a 50-acre site.
Located on the former Darwen Moorland High School site, the development represents a significant investment in the local area and forms part of the wider regeneration and growth of the Darwen East corridor. Once complete, the scheme will provide a diverse mix of private sale, affordable rent and shared ownership homes, alongside approximately 12 acres of high-quality public open space.
From the earliest planning stages through to detailed design and site delivery, Shape Engineering has been working closely with Vistry Group and the wider project team to develop engineering solutions that respond to the unique characteristics of the site.
The challenging topography, with its significant level changes across the development, has required carefully coordinated civil and structural engineering solutions. Our involvement includes the design of highways and infrastructure, drainage and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), retaining structures, foundations and structural engineering solutions that will support the phased delivery of this landmark residential development.
As construction continues to progress, it is fantastic to see the vision for Holden Fold becoming a reality, with new homes now taking shape and infrastructure works advancing across the site. The scale of the development is becoming increasingly evident and highlights the collaborative effort between the client, consultants and contractor.
Projects such as Holden Fold demonstrate Shape Engineering’s ability to deliver innovative engineering solutions for large-scale residential developments, supporting the creation of sustainable communities and high-quality places to live.
We are delighted to be working alongside Vistry Group and the wider project team and look forward to seeing Holden Fold continue to develop over the coming months as this impressive scheme progresses towards completion.
